My show, Take Root, at SATOR Projects will transport visitors through large sale, immersive textile ‘tree totems,’ each displaying the chromatic interplay of hues created from a single, massive mushroom. A series of textile pieces, mono prints, and photographs visualize its relationship to the environment and create a portrait of our local ecosystem. Moving through the spectrum of hues will reveal the process of coaxing color from fungi. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn from the land, discover the fungi, investigate the invisible colors and pigments, imagine the underlands, and spread like mycelium throughout the space.
The exhibition opening is on Saturday, September 7 from 5-7pm.
Open weekly on Saturdays from 12-4pm or by appointment.
For the closing event on Saturday, November 1 from 5-7pm Julie will be in conversation with Wildcraft Studio School founder, Chelsea Heffner, discussing her work at the intersection of art and nature.
