Natural Dyers! Painters! Curious about what to do with that leftover dye bath? Interested in making your own botanical pigments? The lake making process is a great way to extract pigment from natural dye baths, and convert that pigment into a solution for painting and printing. In this class, I will guide the group in making lake pigments from dye plants grown at my flower farm, Bloom & Dye. Learn the process of lake making and techniques for storing and using the pigment. Play with mixing pigments into inks by exploring different ways to mix, bind and apply the pigment with natural materials. Each student will take home samples on fabric and paper, a set of watercolor paints, along with a craft notebook full of recipes and instruction.
